Simona Halep, the former world number one tennis player, has announced that she will delay her start to the 2025 season, skipping the Australian Open due to knee and shoulder pain. The 33-year-old Romanian, who had a doping ban reduced earlier this year, had been granted a wildcard for the Australian Open qualifying tournament but will now focus on recovery. Halep, who was the runner-up at the 2018 Australian Open, plans to return to competitive tennis in early February at her home event in Cluj.
