Cleanup continued in the small town of Bonnertown in Lawrence County after emergency management officials said a tornado may have touched down in the area Sunday night.

Windy conditions impacted areas across the Midstate and Southern Kentucky Sunday evening through the early morning hours Monday, with several tornado warnings issued.

Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency officials are actively assessing damage and monitoring conditions as residents work to recover. Bill Phillips with the Lawrence County EMA says mobile homes, prefab modular homes and power lines all sustained damage.

“We’ve had a long night here in Lawrence County,” Phillips says. “We had what we think is a tornado.”

Officials have been surveying the area, working throughout the night and will continue assessing damage Monday. There is no set number at this time on how many residences sustained damage, Phillips adds.

“It was a nasty event,” Phillips says. “We’ve had a lot of people working all night long.”

Weather service crews will be surveying the area later Monday to determine is a tornado touched down in the Midstate county. Check back as we learn more.
