It remains the biggest-ever win in Champions League history.

Rafael Benitez’s side were in trouble. Having reached the final less than six months earlier, they had taken just one point from their opening three group games, and had suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in Turkey two weeks previously.

But, as was so often the case with Benitez, the Spaniard got the result when he needed it most on the occasion of his 50th game in charge of Liverpool in the Champions League.
