We open with the Russian logs of their soldier boy experimentations. Like we pointed out last week, these experiments are meant to parallel what Hydra did to Bucky in the MCU. IN Captain America Civil war we even see similar experiments being conducted on other super soldiers, who also rebelled against their overlords and were put into stasis, just like soldier boy. [CW clip]

In fact there are a lot of parallels with Billy Butcher and Baron Zemo. Like we’ve pointed out in multiple videos, Zemo kinda had a point about controlling the supes [supremacist speech]. And it seems like the Russian government agrees. They weren’t trying to make their own compound V, they were trying to make a weapon to kill supes, and level the international playing field.

In their Russian hideout we see a Russian movie poster depicting a homelander as a monster, mowing down people with his heat vision. We know that this is just movie propaganda, but as we saw last season, it’s not far from the truth. Homelander fantasize about being able to cut loose like this.

Just for a moment, Butcher sees his brother Lenny’s face flash on Hughie’s mug. This is because Butcher always protected Lenny from his abusive dad, and Hughie reminds him of his soft-handed little bro. This is one of the reasons why he’s keen for Hughie to take compound V, because it means that he’ll be protected from harm.

Or, maybe this is Butcher’s guilty conscience, reminding him that he shouldn’t be letting Hughie do this to himself. [butcher face on tim meadows] You don;t want any part of this stuff hughie.

Back at Vought tower the board meeting has moved to the meeting room of the Seven, so Homelander can emphasize that he is leading both the Seven and Vought.

So this is a western expression, that is meant to say that even the great mountains of the earth must travel to pay tribute to gods. This is in line with how a homelander spoke about himself like he was Jesus a few episodes ago [me and Jesus, birthday, immaculate conception].

But this expression also has origins in western culture that expose an underlying racism. It was originally taken from an essay by Francis Bacon, where he says that Muhammed commanded the hill to come to him, the hill stood still, so he walked to the hill instead. The meaning behind it is, “oh those dumb arabs.” So western people use this expression a lot, without knowing its true context.

I’ve talked a bit in every video about how Homelander is following the dictator’s playbook. He says outrageous things that people love him for. He’s become paranoid of everyone. [clip]. He fired the crime analytics team to replace them with loyal, unqualified people. He’s made his aides infight to prove loyalty to him. He’s sowing distrust of a mysterious group he can label as an enemy [clip]. Then, like hitler burning the Reichstag, he uses his mistrust to seize power at Vought [clip]. He starts putting down insurrection, by killing supersonic. He also is starting to distrust the press [talking about Coleman].

And, as we see in this scene, when someone says something he doesn’t know anything about, he takes this as a personal offense [are you making fun of me]. Dictators also possess the same flaws as Homelander, which Maeve points opit [narcissist, etc]. And most dictatorships fall from within, and I’m sure this one will as well. I’ve got a theory on that that I’ll save for the end of the video, because it’s a spoiler for the comics.
